If you type gardening into TikTok you will be faced with the videos you might expect. There are lots of vegetable and flower videos, with content creators offering their best advice for growing during winter. But, if you go a little deeper, youll get to TikToks latest slang term.

Essentially, the term gardening refers to the consumption of Marijuana substances, whether that be in edible or smoke form. The term has been appropriated by TikTok communities to get past the platforms content moderation.

In her TikTok video, user Kayla (@Kayla_Cupto) explained how she was making a drink after two years of no-booze.

I have been sober for about two and a half years and Ive gotten into gardening in those two and a half years. Ive been enjoying the occasional trips out to the garden and what not, Kayla said as she made a mocktail for New Years Eve.

She then finished pouring a drink using Nowadays Microdose, which is described as refreshingly different. Natural fruit flavors, a crisp finish, and low doses of THC come together to create the happiest of happy hours.

The term is causing some confusion

TikToker Natalie Benson (@notnataliebenson) has built an entire community of gardeners thanks to her hilarious, yet informative, clips. Shes so convincing that some people believe shes a real gardener.

Im just stupid. This whole time I thought she was like a professional gardener and that she had like an acre of land, one TikToker said, earning over 600k likes from similarly confused people.

So, next time a family says they are going gardening, you know what they really mean.
