To the tune of Jump by The Pointer Sisters, the council worker was filmed starting by the window before slowly getting into the groove of the dance. Within moments, he was full Hugh Grant, dancing backward across the hall and onto the stairs.
Just like the movie, he was also intruded on by another worker – killing the joy of his dance moment.

In just three days, the video has amassed over 200,000 views with viewers sharing their joy at the hilarious scene.
Those Town Hall stairs are 100 percent made for this choreo, joked one user.
Why do I want to see the CCTV footage of you doing this, added another.
I was worried about the lack of commitment at the start, but it turned out good, reads one comment.

Hugh Grant actually hated the original scene
The moment might be so loved that London councils are recreating it 20 years later, but the actor himself wasnt actually a fan of it.
Hugh Grant told Diane Sawyer in the ABC News special on the film: I saw it in the script and i thought, Well, Ill hate doing that. I didnt fancy doing the dance at all, let alone rehearsing it.
And to this day, theres many people, and I agree with them, who think its the most excruciating scene ever committed to celluloid. But then some people like it, he added.
Richard Curtis even said the actor kept saying no to filming the dance and was grumpy during the shoot.
I think he was hoping Id get ill or something and wed say, Oh, well, what a shame, well have to lose that dancing sequence,’ Curtis said on the same show.
