The crazy candles arrived on shelves at the start of November and would make the perfect jokey Christmas present for a friend or work colleague.

The food-scented candles are by a brand called Scent Market and there are six different smells:

  • Fresh Slice of Pizza
  • Dill Pickle
  • First Sip of Diet Cola
  • Country Fair Corn Dog
  • Popcorn Garland
  • Blazin’ Hot Chips

Each one is in a different color jar that represents the scent. Dill Pickle is green like a gherkin and Blazin’ Hot Chips is a bright chilli red.

They are finished with a picture of the dish on top, and according to the descriptions, they really do smell like food.

“Savory scent of crispy fried batter with the mouthwatering aroma of grilled hot dogs,” the Corn Dog one says.

The Fresh Slice of Pizza scent adds: “Aroma of freshly baked pizza, blending melting cheese, savory tomato sauce, and a hint of herbs and spices.”

All six are available online here and in-store, with each 5.2 oz candle retailing for just $4. They are almost a crazy as these candles inspired by Donald Trump!

‘One of them actually made me gag’

One TikTok user popped into the grocery store to smell the candles and said the only nice one is Popcorn Garland, which has hints of caramel.

“The others, not good at all,” she said. “One of them actually made me gag. I don’t recommend.”

Another person warned on Instagram: “Saw these at Walmart and I warn you do not smell the carnival corn dog!! You have been warned!”

“Dont do it,” someone else said. “The hot chips candle legit smells like vomit.”

People think Walmart has gone mad, with someone else asking “What were they thinking?” and another adding: “Seriously, why?”

The store says in the description they are perfect for white elephant or secret Santa exchanges, so they’re not supposed to be serious.

One person got the gist, saying: “I think these are hysterical. Perfect for a white elephant gift exchange.”

If you go into someone’s home and it smells like corn dogs, you’ll now know why!
