The sneaker brand unveiled its 2022 Off The Wall Pride Gallery Collection last week.

At the time, in a post shared across Instagram and Twitter, Vans revealed it had partnered with three LGBTQ+ artists to produce the collection.

The artists Ashley Lukashevsky, Kaitlin Chan and Sara Lorusso each designed their own footwear and apparel with the aim to showcase individuality.

Photographer Sara Lorusso turns the classic white slip-on on its head as it features lipstick kiss pints across the whole shoe. Inside the sneaker is the phrase ‘love is love’, which also features in another of Sara’s designs.

Digital artist Ashley Lukashevsky’s pieces include a number of illustrations featuring on white laced-up sneakers as well as other apparel. The work is said to reflect the feeling of “being seen and heard in a found community”.

Hong-Kong cartoonist Kaitlin Chan’s artwork, meanwhile, is said to tell its own story and, as per The Fashionography, also includes a nod to the queer Chinese community that has supported the artist.

Other Pride-themed apparel is also available

As well as the artist-curated Pride collection, Vans has also released an Off The Wall Together Pride collection.

In recognition of Pride, the line features several items with many pieces incorporating both rainbow and Pride flag elements.

Other pieces include a ‘Pride is&’ graphic, which features hand-written messages by Vans’ internal LGBTQ+ community. The design appears on a T-shirt, socks and lace-up and slip-on editions of classic Vans sneakers.

The slip-on design even features blank spots to allow customers to customise their shoes to state what Pride means to them.
