Social Interaction

As reported by the CDC, social connectedness helps to implement several health benefits including improved sleep, higher self-esteem, and an increased chance of making healthy choices. It also helps to prevent serious illnesses like heart disease, depression, dementia, and strokes.

The truly wonderful thing about social interaction is that its unique to the individual. If going out for cocktails is not your thing, then gather a few of your friends or family members and have a meal, picnic, or movie marathon.

If you are constantly rushed off your feet running from one obligation to another, then International Womens Day might allow you to take a step back and take care of number one.

This can be as simple as a hot bubble bath, a facemask, or simply spending one-on-one time with your beautiful self. Research also backs up the claim, with consistent skincare reducing the presence of the stress hormone cortisol by up to 83%

Though we are not suggesting cracking open your old high school textbooks, reading and education in general can be one of the best forms of self-care. Not only are you reading something new, which is a win in itself, but learning has been shown to increase emotional intelligence, decrease stress levels, and inspire next steps.

In the meantime, you could expect to see greater focus, an increased sense of self, and less rage from seeing extended family members post another Facebook status.

One of the single greatest ways to celebrate the occasion is to invest more time in yourself. Maybe youve been neglecting your own body, or perhaps you want to upgrade a part of your life to feel better in the long run.

You need not overhaul your entire routine either, as simple lifestyle changes are often shown to have big overall effects. It can be as straightforward as drinking a glass of water in the morning.

On how drinking cold water can boost your metabolism, Dr William Li told Real Simple: “Cold water triggers your body to turn on a mechanism called cold-activated thermogenesis. This means your body warms the water by turning on your metabolism, by as much as 30 percent, for about an hour.”
