Trainers top picks for very demure, very mindful dogs as viral TikTok sensation takes off

The world has been obsessed with Jools Lebron’s “very demure, very mindful” mantra, and now a dog trainer has picked out the breeds that keep with the soon-to-be iconic phrase.

Content creator Jools Lebron unknowingly created a worldwide sensation as she talked about the “very demure, very mindful” ensemble she put together for work. Since then, the TikTok sound has spread like wildfire, and even marriage coaches are offering advice for demure relationships.

Much like the recent ChatGPT trend that saw people AI roasting their friends, Jools Lebron’s mantra is quickly becoming 2024’s most used slang phrase.

It seems to easily apply to most areas of our lives, so The Focus spoke to national training and behavior coordinator Amanda Farrah who works with a wide variety of breeds almost every day.

“At Best Friends, were working to end the killing of dogs and cats in Americas shelters in 2025, and one way to join the cause is by adopting your next dog, rather than purchasing from a breeder or pet store, Amanda told us. One great thing about adopting a shelter pet is that we often have the chance to get to know them a bit, or even really well if theyve been in a foster home, and we have some idea of who they are. The best part, though, is seeing who they blossom into when they realize theyre home.

The first dog that she said exhibits the very demure mindset was a pit bull, a breed originally used for blood sports and violent fight rings.

“Pit bulls are often champion snugglers who make a set of pajamas look amazing. Very demure, very cutesy,” she told us.

Next up was German shepherds, which have a long history of being service animals because of their keen senses and reception to training. Amanda said that most German shepherds have an “enthusiasm and energy” that befits them for any task at hand. Very mindful, very demure indeed!

Dog care can be difficult, especially during the summer months, which is why it’s always helpful to have a very mindful dog like a Labrador Retriever. They will always clean their plate at dinner time, which means less tidying up for you!

To be demure is to be “reserved, modest, and shy”, which in turn means less muddy paws, stolen personal items, and chewed shoes.

There are no dogs more demure than Pugs and Shih Tzus, Amanda said, as they are “likely to give muddy puddles a wide berth.”

Another aspect of the demure lifestyle, as evidenced by the original creator, is being put together and looking fresh all the time. For humans, that comes in age-busting facemasks, but dogs are not too dissimilar.

“Huskies eyeliner is perfect all the time,” Amanda explained. “They dont show up to playgroup or a vet visit with smudged liner. Very demure.”

Last, but certainly not least, was the Great Dane. Originally boar hunters, the enormous size of Great Danes might dissuade you from their demure stature but don’t negate them just yet.

Amanda added: “A dogs breed is only a part of what goes into forming their personality and behavior. Every dog is an individual being created through a complex formula of genetics, environment, and their own socialization and learning experiences.

“There are beagles who herd sheep and border collies who would rather not. There are couch potato Jack Russells and very brave, adventurous chihuahuas who defy the shaky chihuahua stereotype in every way.
