Trader Joe accessory may have overtaken Stanley Cup as Americas most sought-after product

The Stanley Cup has been dethroned as the internets most coveted item following a surge of interest surrounding the Trader Joes tote bags.

In part thanks to TikTok and Instagram, Stanley became one of the most in-demand brands last year. The nation was positively enthralled by their quencher range leading to numerous limited edition finds including the Black Chroma and Chocolate Gold collections.

The Trader Joes tote bag comes in four colors

The Trader Joes canvas mini tote bag is priced at just $2.99 and comes in blue, red, green, and yellow. Despite its low price tag, popularity has surged in recent weeks and created over 11 million views on TikTok.

Insiders suggested that the bag first hit the stores on February 27 with limited availability. Naturally, they flew off the shelves and a restock is still some time away. On social media, hopeful fans are sharing footage of pushy crowds fighting over the miniature tote bags.

The simple bags are becoming so popular that customers are upselling them on Facebook and eBay. There are countless listings currently fluttering around the internet with prices ranging from $5 to $500. Shockingly, they are selling.

Following the overwhelming success, Trader Joes was forced to issue a statement on the subject of reselling.

“At times, and more so recently, we have been aware of our products being resold, often at exorbitant prices, in various places (online and elsewhere). This is done without our approval or authorization and outside the controls of our quality-minded supply chain, Trader Joes said.

They added: “To be clear, we neither condone nor support the reselling of our products and do all we can to stop the practice.

An exact restock date is still relatively unknown, with USA Today suggesting it could be in the summer, and CNN reporting late September.

Has the tote bag overtaken the Stanley Cup

Such crazed spending around a relatively normal item is not completely unheard of, as seen with the Stanley Cup trend still sweeping the world.

Again, on platforms like Facebook and eBay, customers are reselling their purchased Stanley Cups for a massive profit margin. Some hardcore fans even offer trade deals on social media.

Budding entrepreneurs are also banking some serious coin, with one TikToker revealing that she was upselling her Stanley Cups, which are usually $50, for $350 to $1,150.
