Joe Keery is centering TikTok discussions as his song End of Beginning is trending for all the wrong reasons and users just want to know how to block the ‘Chicago’ sound.

As users may find themselves in similar situations when someone is constantly annoying them via DMs or to rid their feed of spam posts, it’s best to understand ways to block different TikTok features and accounts.

Joe Keery’s ‘Chicago’ song is viral, again

TikTok users have taken to X to find out if the sound feature on the app can be blocked as they have been hearing the ‘Chicago’ song on every scroll.

The track, End of Beginning by Djo, is playing every time you scroll onto a new post, leaving users extremely annoyed.

The lyrics “And when I’m back in Chicago, I feel it” are ringing in people’s ears as they’ve heard it way too many times in the last couple of hours.

“OMG. How do I block this sound on TikTok? I’m tired of hearing it,” wrote one user.

“Does anyone know how to get rid of the Chicago song? I don’t want to hear the same song on every scroll,” wrote another.

A third user said: “How do I block a sound on TikTok? I don’t care you’re back in Chicago.”

How to block sound and other accounts on TikTok

It isn’t clear if the sound on the app is repeating due to a glitch or if Djos’ song is trending once again. But, there’s a way to stop it from playing.

You can block the sound by following a few easy steps…

  1. Open TikTok and find the video with the sound you want to block.
  2. Tap and hold on the video until the pop-up menu appears.
  3. Select ‘Not Interested.’

However, blocking the sound on a specific video doesn’t stop the music or song from playing in other videos. You need to repeat this each time you come across the sound.

But, the app’s algorithm will realize you don’t want to hear the same sound and suggest it less in the following videos.

How to block someone on TikTok

Here’s how to block other accounts:

  1. Go to the account you want to block.
  2. Select the 3-dot icon on the top right.
  3. Tap Block and follow the steps in the app to state your reason for blocking.
