TikTok panics as friends kayak to abandoned oil rig in Great White waters
TikTok was sent into a panic after a group of friends kayaked to an abandoned oil rig through Great White shark-infested water.
Whether youve got thalassophobia (fear of the ocean) or not, the idea of paddling through waters swarming with Great Whites is enough to make anyone’s blood run cold. But for the adrenaline junkies out there, it sounds more like a walk in the park.
A fun day out for friends and Great White sharks
Last week, Kaden (@kadentravels) took to TikTok with a fun travel vlog featuring his friends, deep water and a boatload of sea lions. Set to the jaunty Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride Disney song, the video began with the friends trekking down the cliff to the waterfront.
Come Kayak to an oil rig with me in Great White territory, he captioned the post, which has since garnered over 116k likes and 1.4 million views.
The sun was blaring and the water was crystal clear as they paddled along. The Coast Guard even made an appearance, though they paid the travellers no mind.
After arriving at the dilapidated oil rig, and after the obligatory sing-song of TikToks Hoist the Colours, the group was treated to sea lions lining the rig. They were also up close and personal with a flock of angry-looking pelicans.
While the group were not suddenly attacked by ginormous sharks, they did spot a pod of jumping dolphins in the distance. Still, our anxiety could never.
TikTok thinks they are crazy

While the groups sunny day out was certainly enjoyable, TikTok dubbed them crazy for venturing out to the rig while Great White sharks could be nearby.
In the comments section, one person wrote: This low key looks like the first few minutes of a horror movies where everyone is still happy and alive.
Perched seals means theres sharks underneath, someone else joked, as someone echoed with, The seals are on the rig for a reason lol.
Another fan argued: No thanks. Ive seen deep blue sea and open waters. Ill stay on land.
