TikTok hack for peeling raw potatoes is mind-blowing

The traditional potato peelers, which can also be used on different vegetables, have been operated the incorrect way for years, according to the viral TikTok with more than 4,00,000 views.

The classic potato peeler, with a blade held by a grip, has always been used to peel the skin of the potato in one direction- either upwards or downwards as the blade works both ways.

But, the viral video shows that the blade swivels in both directions for faster and more effective results.

The content creator peels the raw potato by moving the traditional peeler back and forth at high speed, and in no time, you can see a larger part of the vegetable pulp in comparison to the amount exposed after getting rid of the skin using the old method.

As shocked as the TikTok user trying the hack were the viewers, who realized they could peel potatoes more conveniently and save a lot of time in the process too.

Another hack to make your life easy

Did you know the purpose of the sharp edges of a vegetable peeler? Not many are aware it is used to get rid of the blemishes on the root vegetable.

People tend to over-peel the part of the vegetable consisting of blemishes or black marks and end up wasting a lot of pulp. You can avoid it by using the tip of the peeler to scoop out the affected part and peel around it as usual.

There is also a hack for boiled potatoes if you want to get rid of the skin at ease once it’s cooked,

All you need to do is make a slit around the vegetable’s circumference and keep it for boiling. Once it’s cooked, hold each end of the potato in both your hands and pull the skin. It should slide off the pulp easily.
