TikTok goes crazy for ‘You look like waves on a sunset’ song that sounds like Morgan Wallen
A new song is taking over TikTok with the chorus ‘You look like waves on a sunset’ and social media users are obsessed. The country track is catching everyone’s attention, and it looks like it could be the next big anthem.
It comes after Universal Music Group pulled all of its artists’ songs from the platform last week following months of tense negotiations, so people are turning to songs by smaller artists instead – like this American country star.
‘You look like waves on a sunset’ song
The track is called Wind Up Missing You by an artist called Tucker Wetmore, who is up-and-coming in the country scene.
It went viral in December 2023 after a fan commented on the singer’s TikTok: “Calling it… Next big country artist.”
He replied with a video singing the song and wrote in the caption: “You look like I’m gonna wind up missin’ you.”
The clip has had more than 1.5 million views and turned everyone’s head, with many asking him to release the track.
However, he’s never shared the entire song, just the chorus: “You look like waves on a sunset/ And you can crash on me all night.”
Who is Tucker Wetmore?
Wetmore is a Nashville-based country artist and singer-songwriter who signed with record label Back Blocks Music last year.
Born in Kalama, Washington, he started writing songs after an injury ended his college football career, Music Row reveals.
The self-taught musician relocated to Nashville in 2020 and has racked up almost 500,000 followers on TikTok.
He is releasing his first-ever single this month, a track called Wine into Whiskey, and people are calling Tucker the ‘next Morgan Wallen’.
Wallen is dominating the country music industry right now after gaining a huge following on TikTok in 2020.
TikTok obsessed with country track
TikTok users are totally obsessed with the song, with one person writing: “Can you drop this song I am BEGGING.”
“This song is so good,” said another.
A third person added: “Sounds almost JUST LIKE Morgan Wallen.”
“Morgan Wallen DUPE,” someone else agreed.
In his latest video, the country star said he’ll release Wind Up Missing You if people “ask nicely”.
