McDonalds made the official announcement on February 2, as they penned: Youre in luck McDonalds fans, Shamrock SZN is finally here! The iconic Shamrock Shake and OREO Shamrock McFlurry are making their return to participating restaurants nationwide starting Feb. 5, for a limited time.

Our classic Shamrock Shake is made with creamy vanilla soft serve, blended with mint syrup and topped with a sweet, whipped topping. Or, for a hint of something different, try our fan-favorite OREO Shamrock McFlurry, which comes blended with crushed OREO cookies, they added. Make your friends green with envy and snag one of these famously minty treats while supplies last.

Content creator Ice Cream With Jules (@icecreamwithjules) shared her version of the McDonalds shake with her 56k followers. Jules simply blended three scoops of vanilla ice cream with mint extract, green food coloring, and some milk. She also argued that you could use mint ice cream for an extra pop of flavor.

For the health nuts

Dieticians and would-be health gurus have urged people to pick healthier choices, largely down to the amount of sugar within its creamy greenness.

On TikTok, Joey Wellness (@joeywellness) told his half-a-million followers: Lets see how much sugar is in a Shamrock Shake.

He revealed that the 97g of sugar equates to roughly 20.5 teaspoons or 27 sugar cubes, with the recommended amount of sugar a day being being no more than 6 teaspoons for women and 9 for men.

Naturally, to combat the McDonalds demand, some TikTok users have offered healthy alternatives to the sugar-filled staple.
