TikTok accuses new dad of soft launching his newborn baby with black hair advice

Will Power has sparked explosive pushback from the internet after asking for hair-care advice on TikTok for his newly adopted Black daughter.

We live in an age where, for some reason, social media seems to be the first point of call for getting information. While it can be a powerful tool for connecting, there needs to be several stops on your journey for information before you take to posting questions on apps like TikTok and Instagram. Will Power did not get that memo.

Why has Will Power sparked criticism?

While Will Power’s TikTok page has been made private since he first posted the viral video, clips of the moment are being shared across numerous other platforms.

I am hoping to get this TikTok over to Black TikTok and Black parents. We have adopted a Black baby, her name is Zoe and I dont know what to do for her hair, he said to the camera as he brushed her hair.

TikTok was flooded with reactions

Will Power’s fellow TikTok users have since stitched the video to offer their thoughts. While some have defended his choice, suggesting he was asking for help in his own way, others have pointed out that he adopted a baby without understanding her individual needs.

He was not asking how to take care of his newly adopted babys hair. I am so glad Im not the only one who thought that. He was strategically soft-launching his adoption, soft-launching his new family vlogger channel, said user Jess (@jesstheprequeldoesmiami).

She further argued that Will Power already has product reviews up on his TikTok despite just bringing her home.

Similarly, Franchesca Ramsey (@franchesca_leigh) replied to a comment defending Wills very public question.

She explained: God forbid this man pick up a book. God forbid this man build a community of black people off the internet in order to help him raise this child. God forbid this man join a support group for transracial adoptive parents.

If you are going to adopt a child from a background that isnt your own, you need to do the basic amount of homework.
