How men really want women to show affection, from back scratches to forehead kisses
Everyone likes to display and receive affection in different ways and it can be tricky to know what your partner really wants – especially when they are a man.
Men are notoriously bad at speaking about their feelings. Do they want to you hold their hand, scratch their back or play with their hair? Well, here are all the answers.

How men want you to display affection
A TikTok user went on a mission to find out what the male equivalent of forehead kisses is, an action that drives every woman crazy when their partner does it.
She ran a poll on social media and more than 4,000 men responded, revealing how men actually want their partner to display affection while dating.
It turns out that men love affection just as much as women do, and they want you to do six very specific things from head scratches to a certain kind of hug.
1. Scratch their back
Firstly, men said they love back scratches, with women running their fingers over their bare back driving them insane.
2. Play with their hair
Similarly, lots of men said they go crazy when women play with their hair or run their fingers through their hair.
3. Scratch their head
Another thing that drives them wild is head scratches, specifically when they are lying down with their head in your lap.
4. Hug them from behind
Men also love being spontaneously hugged from behind, either while standing up or lying down as the ‘little spoon’.
5. Hold their arm
A slightly less obvious one is grabbing and holding onto their arm at a random time, like the bicep or forearm.
6. Kiss their forehead
It’s not just women who love forehead kisses after all, men said they also love the cute little display of affection.
‘Can confirm the arm one’
In the comments, both men and women are confirming that the list is totally accurate, but one seems to come out on top – the arm hold.
One person wrote: “Can confirm the arm one, its my go to move.”
“Glad the arm holding got in there, a very underrated and forgotten treasure,” said another.
A third added: “Arm hold is so underrated yet very powerful.”
“Holding their arm!!! I just know this makes them feel good and proud,” someone else wrote.
Some more that didn’t make the list are beard scratches, grabbing their face with both hands while kissing and kissing their nose.
