The Simpsons ‘predicted’ Apple Vision Pro eight years before the Apple release
The Simpsons accurately predicted Apples release of the Apple Vision Pro almost a decade before they hit the shelves.
Its a well-known cultural fact that everyones favorite yellow animations have the strange ability to predict the future. In the past, the creators of the hit show foretold the election of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, Lady Gagas Super Bowl performance, and faulty voting machines to name but a few.
The Simpsons gets it right& again!
In 2016, The Simpsons released an episode entitled Friends and Family that saw Mr. Burns hire Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie to play his virtual reality family. The technology quickly caught on, with the whole town brandishing chunky headsets.
The rest of the episode featured fan-favorite characters bumping into things, fumbling around their day-to-day lives, and even sharing kisses in virtual-reality space.
Not only did the animation predict the launch of the technology, but it also seemingly captured the spirit of its reception. Despite only launching last week, footage of Vision Pro wearers out in the wild is already circulating the web.
In one viral video, a young man could be seen sitting on the train as he typed away in the air, while another showed a businessman walking a robot dog.
The future is here
Last week, Apple released its Vision Pro headset to Americans with the hope of launching worldwide shortly. The technology is as impressive as it is silly.
For just $3,499, users can hop into a virtual reality space and do just about anything. They could use it for work, operating on Slack and Microsoft Excel, or they could sit back and crack on Netflix.
Today marks the beginning of a new era for computing, said Tim Cook, Apples CEO, said in a press release. Just as the Mac introduced us to personal computing, and iPhone introduced us to mobile computing, Apple Vision Pro introduces us to spatial computing.
