The only 6 vitamins you need to take in fall and winter
A doctor and nutritional supplement expert has revealed the six mandatory vitamins and supplements that you should be taking during the fall and winter seasons.
As the weather changes and the days get shorter, our bodies require different supplements and vitamins. They’re not magic by any means, but correct supplements can help with sleep, fight back aging, and fill in the gaps in your diet. Be cautious though as vitamin overdose is a real thing.
Vitamin D3 was one of the doctor’s top recommendations

Though we already know that vitamin D is essential for acne, what other supplements should you be purchasing as the winter chill sets in? To find out, we spoke to nutritional supplement expert Dr. Gina Nick.
“As we move into winter, our bodies become more vulnerable to illness due to factors such as reduced sunlight, more time indoors, and seasonal dietary changes,” she said. “Supplementing with the right nutrients is crucial to supporting immune function, mental well-being, and physical resilience.”
Dr. Gina’s first suggestion was the “master antioxidant” glutathione, which helps to detoxify the body and neutralize free radicals.
She added: “It also supports immune function by helping to activate T-cells, the bodys frontline defenders against infections. Glutathione levels tend to decrease with age and stress, so supplementation ensures optimal antioxidant defense.”
After you’ve used the hack tocheck if you need vitamin D you can finally reap the benefits during winter, which the doctor said include immune modulation, reduced inflammation, and a lower risk of respiratory illness. The handy supplement also improves mood and hormone regulation, making it the perfect weapon in your fight against seasonal affective disorder (SAD).
Moving on, Dr. Gina suggested heading to your local pharmacy for Magnesium Glycinate, an easily absorbed nutrient that helps with immune function, energy production, stress regulation, and sleep.
Vitamin C is also an essential supplement for winter

“Vitamin C is well-known for its immune-boosting properties. It enhances the bodys ability to fight infections by supporting white blood cell function and acts synergistically with glutathione to neutralize oxidative stress,” the expert suggested. “During winter, when immune challenges are more frequent, maintaining adequate vitamin C levels helps protect against illness.”
You might also consider investing in zinc, a powerful immune-supporting mineral that can help reduce the duration of colds and help heal wounds. Zinc’s ability to repair wounds and improve skin is especially important during winter when our skin becomes naturally more brittle.
Concluding her recommendations, the doctor put forward Glycine, as she explained: “Glycine is an amino acid that enhances glutathione production, improving detoxification and antioxidant activity.
“It also promotes restful sleep and helps regulate inflammation, which are both crucial for maintaining health during winter. Additionally, glycine supports metabolic function, which can help with energy regulation during colder months when activity levels may fluctuate.”
