The ‘most durable’ dog bowl that’s easy to clean and resistant to damage

First-time dog owners and even experienced pet parents may not know what food bowl is best for their pooch. So, we have listed different options you can choose from.

Dog bowl that lasts long is easy to clean

Experts at the American Kennel Club have shared a list of dog bowls, for different breeds to meet their individual needs.

While you must always pick a bowl that suits your pet, depending on the length of their ears and the size of the muzzle, the material they are made of also matters.

If you’re looking for one that lasts long, is easy to clean, and is less susceptible to damage, stainless steel must be your go-to choice.

Steel bowls are also dishwasher-safe and don’t leach chemicals, which is important as ingesting harmful substances can lead to health hazards for your dog.

Although this is a great option for all dogs and puppies, their lightweight may not sustain the energy of an active dog, which can knock it over and create a mess.

Ceramic dog bowls are a better option for large breeds or puppies that are playful and still not trained to eat properly from the bowl.

Always pick dog bowls that are made of non-toxic and food-grade ceramic. Despite being heavy, they aren’t dishwasher-safe, so they must be handled carefully. They can chip or break easily otherwise.

More options to choose from

If your dog has ears that hang long, like in beagles or a hound, small bowls are a better option as they stop their ears from getting into it.

If your doggo is on the obese side, sometimes due to overfeeding and lack of exercise or because it’s of a breed that can gain weight easily, try puzzle feeders.

“Slow-feed bowls are usually made of food-safe plastic, with raised ridges and areas within the bowl. The ridges provide a challenge for dogs as they eat and prevent dogs from eating too quickly,” notes The American Kennel Club.

Meanwhile, collapsible travel dog bowls are a must if you’re planning a hike or a road trip with your furry buddy. These fold flat and are easy to carry.
