Tame frizzy hair with aluminum foil

Beauty experts at Fresha say all you need to do is grab a piece of aluminum foil and rub it over your hair to instantly take out frizz. The metal helps to neutralise the static, resulting in smooth locks.

Hair becomes frizzy in the summer because of moisture in the air, Pantene explains. Your hair cuticle absorbs this moisture and swells up, causing frizziness, especially when your hair is dry.

To stop this, separate your hair into sections and take a piece of tin foil. Then, loosely wrap the foil around each section and gently pull it down your hair to smooth out the frizz.

The hack has been circling TikTok for years, where one person writes: “I tried it. It really worked.”

“This is the best hack,” says another.

Others are saying that dryer sheets that you put in the washing machine also do the same trick. They are designed to reduce static in fabrics, Whirlpool reveals.

5 more tricks to help frizzy hair

The beauty experts have shared five more tricks which will all help to tame your frizzy summer locks too.

1. Use coconut oil

Regularly using coconut oil in your hair can help reduce frizzas the oil stops the hair from absorbing water, which will prevent it from frizzing up in humid climates. Just add a few drops to your hair when it’s dry to keep the frizz at bay.

2. Wash with cold water

Washing your hair with cold water rather than hot will help seal the hair follicles, stopping it from going frizzy. Hot water opens up the hair follicles and the hot temperature damages the strands by destroying the keratin bonds.

3. Add moisture

Adding extra moisture to your hair through curl creams or mousses while your hair is still damp will keep your hair hydrated, reduce frizz and prevent curl breakage by creating a barrier that retains moisture and defines your curls.

4. Sleep with a silk pillowcase

Switching to a silk pillowcase or wearing a silk bonnet are other great ways to reduce the frizz. Silk is gentler on hair than cotton, which reduces friction and helps maintain smooth, manageable, frizz-free locks.

5. Use a hair-sprayed brush

Before leaving the house, spray some hair spray onto a brush and comb through your hair with it. This will set your style, tame flyaways and stop your hair from frizzing throughout the day, keeping it looking smooth and polished.
