Take this at-home IQ test to see if you’re as smart as Donald Trump is said to be

In December 2016, a chart made the rounds on social media claiming Donald Trumps IQ was 156. Snopes deemed it false. It was based on a real study into the possible intelligence quotient scores of 42 US presidents. However, that study came out 10 years earlier, so it had nothing to do with Trump.

But intelligence and psychology are still fun to talk about. Others have had fun claiming Trumps IQ is 73. Thats also wrong. As of late 2017, however, Trump had reportedly tweeted about his IQ 22 times. It appears to be important to him. Heres how his alleged score compares to his other fellow former presidents, what the various scores mean, and a test you can do at home to see if you match up to the scores Trump may or may not have.

Political psychologist estimates the IQ scores of former US presidents

In 2006, the academic journal Political Psychology published an article on presidential IQs, in which author Dean Keith Simonton estimates the IQ scores for the 42 US presidents from George Washington to GW Bush.

He landed on a figure for each by taking various existing measurements and putting them all together. Then, he mapped them against what he called evaluations of presidential leadership performance, i.e., how well each one did.

For a handful of presidents, he had actual IQ scores to work with. John Quincy Adams, for example, apparently had an IQ of 168.7. This puts him in the 99.9998th percentile… if you can believe it.

This means his IQ was supposedly higher than 99.9998% of all other people.

Others had relatively modest IQs. James Monroes was 124.1 (still in the 95th percentile), while Ulysses S Grants was 120 (91st percentile).

Trumps 156 IQ claim has to do with where he went to university

Trump attended the Wharton School, part of the University of Pennsylvania. He graduated from Penn in 1968 with a bachelors degree, primarily in economics but with some classes in anthropology.

An August 2015 article on the website BeforeItsNews.com, quoted by The Florida Times-Union, once read: Given the usual requirements for admission to a top school like Wharton, I estimate that Mr Trump has a 156 IQ at the minimum.

“The standard description of this level of intelligence, the article reportedly continued, is ‘Genius – Exceptional intellectual ability and capable of looking beyond known facts.

It also puts him on the 99.99th percentile: That means that Donald Trump is smarter than 99.99 percent of the people on planet Earth.

However, the conclusion is illogical, since Trump did not enter Wharton as a freshman, meaning he didnt need to pass Whartons SAT requirements (currently 1500). Wharton doesnt list SAT scores among its requirements for transfer students.

Heres an IQ test you can take at home to see how you compare to Trump

One of the best free IQ tests available online is the Real IQ test. Its based on the CattellHornCarroll theory, or CHC.

It has 50 questions. Each one is worth the same amount, and theres no penalty for answering a question wrong. Every test is a random selection from the organizations library, meaning youre very unlikely to take the same test twice.

Take the test here.

After youve completed the test, calculate the percentile youre in using this online calculator. If you get a score that puts you in the 99.99th percentile, you have the same IQ that someone once thought Donald Trump had!

You can take the test for free, and it’ll tell you in a room of 1000 people, how smart you are in comparison. But to see the IQ score, you need to pay. But there’s a free calculator online that will do it for you.

If you get a score that puts you in a much lower percentile, dont worry. Trump’s isn’t 156  or it’s very unlikely to be. Having a high IQ doesnt mean youre smart. Having a low IQ doesnt mean youre not.
