Tajn’s new chili and lime sorbets will spice up your summer
Mexican seasoning Tajn has released an unexpected new product that’s got everyone’s taste buds tingling – sorbet!
The famous spice mix has been used to flavor two different sorbets, adding a spicy twist to your summer dessert.
Tajn releases spicy sorbets
One of them is mango flavored, while the other is lime, and they’re both finished off with Tajn’s Chili Lime Seasoning. They have been spotted at the grocery store HEB this week, retailing at $6.97 for a 33.8 oz tub.
“Experience the refreshing taste of lime sorbet paired with Tajn chili lime seasoning for a frozen treat everyone enjoys,” the description says.
Both are available in-store and online, and are fat-free, dairy-free, and made without any preservatives or artificial flavors.
The much-loved spice mix was created in 1985 by Horacio Fernndez, who strived to recreate the flavors of a sauce made by his grandmother. It’s named after the Mexican archaeological siteEl Tajn, which he visited in 1985.
Aj means chili pepper in Spanish, so the name perfectly combines his love for the pre-Columbiansite with the seasoning’s contents. The spice mix consists predominantly of lime, chili peppers and salt, and is used to flavor dishes across the world.
‘What in the ice-cold heartburn’
The new sorbets have had mixed reactions, with some eager to try the spicy desserts and others not so sure.
One person said: “I want to try them.”
“This is wild!” someone else added.
A third person gasped: “What in the ice-cold heartburn.”
Another said the sorbets would make perfect margarita floats.
One guy tried the sorbets on TikTok and said you get an “overload” of Tajn flavor . He rated the mango 7/10 and the lime 8.5/10, describing them as the “perfect summer snack”.
The new release comes as Starbucks has recently launched a range of spicy refreshers that contain real chili powder!
There are three flavors, Spicy Dragonfruit, Spicy Pineapple and Spicy Strawberry, which are all combined with a Spicy Chili Powder Blend.
