Sweetly Seasoned owner addresses controversy surrounding Keith Lee’s $4,000 tip
The owner of a food truck called Sweetly Seasoned in Dallas recently took to Instagram to address the controversy surrounding a $4,000 tip left by famous influencer Keith Lee.
Keith Lee is a TikTok influencer, currently making stops in the United States to review local food businesses. He is known for leaving generous tips, usually over $1,000. He visited the Dallas food truck run by Kim Viverette on Tuesday, January 30, after he was approached by fellow TikTok user, Sherell S. Hodge.
Controversy surrounding Sweetly Seasoned explained
After visiting Sweetly Seasoned, Keith told the owner of the truck (Kim Viverette) that he was giving her a $4,000 tip. Of this, he stated that $1,000 would go to Sherell for her role in getting him to visit the business, and another $1,000 to her baby brother, who was seen cutting hair and making braids next door to the food truck.
A day later, Sherell posted a TikTok video and claimed that Kim had not paid her or her brother the share of tips Keith had left behind, and accused the food truck owner of using it on her own business.
Owner of the Dallas food truck responds on Instagram
In response to Sherell’s claims, Kim posted on Instagram, although the video has since been taken down.
In the video, Kim did not deny that she kept the tip to herself, but went on to justify her action as ‘reasonable’. She believed that Keith Lee had mistakenly offered the $1,000 tip the young barber next to the food truck because he thought he was providing an act of service for free, when really it was a paid haircut service.
Kim thanked Sherell for promoting her business but reiterated that neither Sherell or her brother were part of the business and therefore weren’t entitled to the tip.
In response to one of her following comments under her deleted video, Kim wrote: “The only person who is a part of this business is my son and he will be paid. What he has going on with his friends has nothing to do with me or my business. Thank you for your support.”
She continued: “This isn’t even about the money you all. This is about principle. How dare you come and make it seem like something it wasn’t. You were supposed to be out there to support Sweetly Seasoned. a struggling business. And then you turn around and make it seem like something it wasn’t. I dare you,”
Keith’s video featuring Sweetly Seasoned is flooded with comments about the latest drama, but the influencer hasn’t responded to any of them.
