Study finds Americans have a crazy obsession with one body part
A new study has found that Americans have a crazy obsession with one strange body part – feet!
FeetFinder, a website for buying and selling feet pictures, analyzed Google search data and found that people are searching for feet a hell of a lot.
Americans obsessed with feet
According to the study, Americans are searching words related to feet and foot fetishes an average of 1,454,925 times per month.
They analysed 27 keywords, some of which include “how to sell feet pics,” “feet pics for sale,” “sell feet pics,” “sexy feet,” “pretty feet,” “good feet,” “hot feet,” “feet videos,” “sucking toes” and “bare feet”.
The number of searches for each term were added to give a total of searches for each state, and this was compared to the population to calculate how many searches per 100,000 people.
“Our data reveals Americans are searching for foot fetish-related search terms nearly 1.5 million times per month on average,” a spokesperson for FeetFinder said. “Foot fetishes are common across America and seem to be growing in popularity year on year.”
“Today, the fascination with feet pictures is more socially accepted as individuals feel more comfortable expressing their interests and engaging with like-minded communities.”
A foot fetish, also known as podophilia, is when people are sexually excited by feet and get pleasure from looking at or touching them, WebMD explains, and it’s one of the most popular fetishes.
States most obsessed with feet
In the study, the state most obsessed with feet is Nevada, generating an average of 17,078 monthly searches. There, the most popular search terms are “feet finder” and “feet pics”.
Next up is Arizona, with an average of 36,798 searches per month and the same two top search terms. Third on the list is Florida, with 109,757 searches and the term “sexy feet” being popular.
After that are Colorado, Georgia, Texas, New York, North Carolina, Utah and California.
The bottom five states are Alaska, Mississippi, Vermont, Montana�and South Dakota, where people hardly search for foot fetishes at all.
Foot fetishes can stem from all kinds of situations, from life experiences to living in sex-positive communities to cultures emphasizing particular body parts. However, one theory says your brain plays a huge part.
On TikTok, a biologist explained that in the part of the brain where you “feel things,” feet and toes are right next to genitals.
“It’s so easy for these wires to get crossed because they’re literally bumping up against each other. And that’s why foot fetishes are the most common fetishes in the world,” he said.
However, feet are also one of the biggest phobias – so they’re both loved and hated. Podophobia is the name for an intense fear of feet.
