Student gets ‘sick’ and ends up in ER because of her reusable water bottle
A woman on TikTok has been warning others to be careful of their reusable bottle as she ended up in the ER due to one.
Social media has been obsessed with reusable bottles and cups as they are a good sustainable option. However, a woman on TikTok had the most dreadful experience because of her bottle and decided to share her story with others to ensure that mistakes are not repeated.
Woman ends up in ER on three different occasions
As per reports, TikTok user Kaebrie revealed that in October she had suffered from a minor cold that lasted a week. This pushed her to consult a doctor who informed her she had bronchitis. As per the procedure, she was prescribed medicines, but it also led to an unfortunate situation as Kae soon experienced a hives breakout.
Fortunately, she felt better after three weeks. Just when Kae thought things were back to normal, after a week she got a sinus infection. She again returned to urgent care and was prescribed medicines. While Kae managed to get better, a week later, she fell sick again. This time, it was a sore throat.
She was prescribed medicines again. However, this time, Kae decided to clean her Owala water bottle.

She finds out what happened
Once Kae started cleaning her reusable bottle, she realized the problem was in front of her all along. The TikTok user searched the internet on how to properly clean her bottle and was shocked to find out that the silicone piece in her lid could be removed.
Once she found the correct way to remove it, Kae was shocked to find mold in it. It is at this moment that Kae found out that she had “mold poisoning” from her bottle which was also the root cause for all her sickness and hospital visits. She then ordered a replacement on Amazon and has not fallen sick since then.
Owala’s website also asks customers to clean their bottles often to avoid such situations. They even provide tablets and a brush to make the job easier. You can also make use of baking soda or vinegar to give a more intense wash.
