How to be a hand model
If you quite like the idea of trying your hand (sorry) at hand modeling, Backstage has plenty of info on what casting directors look out for as well as hints and tips on what you can do to kickstart your career.
The site states that hand models typically have narrow, slender fingers and unspotted skin and that moles, blemishes, or irregularly shaped fingers and nails may disqualify you.
It is still possible to make a career in hand modelling if you have spotty hands but it is potentially more challenging.
In terms of an average salary, hand models earn between $25,000 to $97,500 a year, with an average of $56,791 according to ZipRecruiter while Insider Businessreports that hand models can earn anywhere between $150 to $4,000 per shoot.

Backstage says that if youre looking to begin a career as a hand model, you should regularly practice common poses and holding objects while keeping your hands still.
You should assemble a portfolio of photographs of your hands, which serve as the equivalent of actor headshots. Once youve done that, you can apply to modelling agencies and send in your portfolio.
If you do manage to book a job, Backstage recommends getting a manicure before the shoot to ensure your hands are in tip-top condition.
And of course, its good practice to look after your hands in everyday life, whether thats by using skincare products, having a good health and hygiene routine, or by passing on activities that could potentially damage your hands.
