Starbucks’ new ‘She x This’ cup range celebrates Women’s History Month
Starbucks has released a new cup collection to honor Women’s History Month, which takes place every year in March.
The range is a collaboration with Atlanta-based illustrator Shae Anthony and is full of incredible, vibrant designs.
Starbucks’ new ‘She x This’ range
‘She x This’ is the latest in Starbucks’ Artist Collaboration Series, which celebrates unique stories from artists across the world.
“Anthonys collection has a vibrant color palette with her signature colors of orange, teal, chartreuse green and hot pink,” the coffee chain said in a press release.
It includes three pieces of drinkware, which are all on sale at Starbucks stores across the US this spring, while supplies last.
All of them celebrate women of color with their bright designs, which draw inspiration from the 90s, when Anthony was born.
Three cups in the collection
The first is a 24-ounce plastic cold cupcalled “Hero” which has an illustration of a woman on the front, but both sides of her face are two different skin tones. This represents the power of women, and coming together over the divide of colorism.
“I make sure I show all skin tones because my mom has darker skin, Anthony told Starbucks. “She’s my hero so I try to make sure I always incorporate her tone and my tone and every other tone in between.”
The second one is a 16-ounce stainless steel tumblercalled “Beautiful” which has the adjective written on the front and evokes the spirit of Atlanta’s street art with bold typography and colorful shapes.
“I knew for Womens History Month I wanted something that was really inspirational, driving home the idea that no matter what that skin looks like or what that hair looks like you are beautiful,” the illustrator said.
Last but not least, there’s “Gemstone Gradient,” a 24-ounce cold cup with rainbow shades of purple, red and orange fading into each other. There is also a pop of green on the lid, and the straw is covered in black and white stripes.
“The moment I got the initial call from Starbucks, I just knew I wanted to go colorful,” Anthony said. “Purple is not usually a color I work with, but I made it the basis for the design.”
More cups are Target-exclusive
The range also features three additional cups, which are exclusively available at Target and follow the same vibrant color palette.
There’s a holographic cold cup with the words “Your Self” written on the front, and a hot drink tumbler covered in colorful abstract shapes.
The final piece in the collection is a 16 ounce-plastic tumbler adorned with “playful line art”. They are all on sale now.
Everyone is in love with the designs, with one person writing on Instagram: “Wow! These are beautiful. Ill definitely be on the hunt for these.”
“I got the ‘Beautiful’ tumbler today!! Made my day,” said another.
A third person added: “I gotta get myself one of these for sure! They are beautiful!”
Starbucks’ Easter cups are also available right now, which follow a cute bunny theme.
