Starbucks employee reveals secret of how new Lavender drinks are made

A Starbucks employee has shown customers how to make the coffee houses newest Lavender drinks which are said to taste like a cup of Spring.

Starbucks released its seasonal Spring menu on Thursday after a leak speculated on potential lavender drinks almost two months ago. Alongside the new beverages, the brand has also released a range of new food items and merchandise.

On Wednesday, Starbucks unveiled its Spring menu with special attention to a range of merchandise for the upcoming International Womens Day.

Lavender is the perfect flavor to transition us from the winter season into spring, said Patrick Penny, Starbucks beverage developer. Its soft sweetness, light floral notes and beautiful color ignite feelings of rejuvenation and awakening associated with the change of seasons.

The first drink was an Iced Lavender Cream Oatmilk Matcha, followed by an Iced Lavender Oatmilk Latte.

When creating the new Iced Lavender Cream Oatmilk Matcha, we wanted to capture the uplifting energy of spring in a cup, Penny added in the press release. The vibrant green matcha topped with lavender-hued cold foam delivers a delightfully colorful and unexpectedly delicious flavor combination.

Secrets behind the Starbucks curtain

Since the new drinks went live on March 7, content creators who also work at Starbucks have been sharing behind-the-scenes footage.

TikToker Graham (@Grahamgraham88) posted his step-by-step for his loyal 147k followers.

He began by filling a cocktail shaker with three even scoops of matcha, and a dash of water. Though the recipe called for liquid cane, Graham accented the drink with three pumps of white mocha instead, which might sound better than the original recipe. He finished the concoction with a scoop of ice and a vigorous shake.

For the foam, Graham mixed milk with the newly released lavender powder and then blitzed it until foamy. The finished result was definitely captivating, though a lot of commenters questioned why the lavender was in powder form.

Another user, Brenna Hempy (@brennahempy), posted her tutorial for the Iced Lavender Oatmilk Latte, successfully whipping it up in just under 30 seconds! She simply mixed two shots of espresso with oat milk and ice before topping it with the whipped-up lavender foam.
