What is the Spotify Color Palette? Uncover new shades based on your music taste
Want to know what colour your music taste would be? Well Spotify Color Palette is here to help. Following in the footsteps of Zodiac Affinity, another tool has been developed to condense your music taste into a palette, resembling the energy of your top tracks.

So, what is the Spotify Color Palette?
The Spotify Color Palette is a tool that analyses the type of music you predominantly listen to. It evaluates your music choices’ energy, positivity, and danceability. It then generates a colour palette – featuring five shades – which reflects your music taste.
For example, if you get a predominantly red palette, this means you listen to more energetic songs on Spotify. As the tool explains: Red is the colour of passion or desire and can also be associated with energy.
If you are have a more orange palette, this means you have more danceable songs on Spotify. The tool explains: Orange is the colour of movement.
A pastel palette – featuring cool pinks and mauves – is for “highly danceable and energetic songs”.

How to access your personal palette
As the colour palette tool isnt a direct part of the Spotify app you can access it through the website here. All you need to do is allow access to your Spotify account by signing in.
It was created by software developer and University of Texas at Austin graduate Israel Medina. You can read more about Israels work here.
Israel Medina’s work has gone down a treat online. Many fans on Twitter felt the colour palette was accurate in representing their music taste.
This month has seen Twitter users sharing their Spotify Color Palettes and the results show most users have a red or orange palette.
This is hardly surprising, with many people opting for pop or dance music as their favourite genre.
So, if you think your colour palette also falls in line with the red trend, or you lean towards cooler blue tones, find out with this new tool.
And don’t forget to share your results!
