Side bags are one of the ‘most harmful’ fashion trends, says chiropractor

A lot of times, fashion trends are blindly followed without many questioning their impact on overall health. A chiropractor warns against specific styles that cause significant damage to your body.

If you were surprised to learn that the position of your tongue when resting determines the overall posture, the dangers of a one-sided bag will make you reconsider your style statement.

Chiropractor says you should avoid carrying side bags

Some handbags are irresistible – people are still crazy about the canvas Totes at Trader’s Joe. Even though these one-sided bags are trendy and may seem comfortable, you wouldn’t want to use them to carry heavy weight.

Not just tote, chiropractor Dr. Suzi Schulman says any bag worn on one shoulder strains the neck and back region. “Heavy one-sided bags are terrible for all the joints of the spine as they pull down on one side,” the doctor says.

This often results in neck and shoulder issues and mid and lower back pain. Several studies have established the harmful effects of carrying a bag or a backpack in an asymmetrical manner on the spine.

Center for Spine and Orthopedics notes that most working professional suffering from back pain are seen carrying one-sided heavy bags.

If you must carry a large tote or a purse, consider keeping it light, switching shoulders periodically, and opting for bags with wider straps or handles to ensure the overall weight is distributed over a wide area.

Let’s talk about 3 of the worst fashion trends for your health…👀➡️ *Heavy one sided bags👜 Don’t carry your bag only on one side of your body as it can throw off your gait by creating a skeletal and posture imbalance that can lead to pain throughout the entire body. *Shapewear- a team of physicians is warning that daily wear can lead to real health concerns. Compression of the stomach, intestine and colon can lead to acid reflux and heartburn, as well as many other health issues. *High Heels👠The hamstrings attach to the pelvis and low back, which is why wearing high heels can make your back ache along with your feet. Also, walking on the balls of your feet will shift your center of gravity forward, forcing you to arch your back when you stand and further contributing to back pain. 📢Save this for later and share with a friend who needs it! • • • #fashion #fashiontrends #health #backpain #neckpain #chiropractor #spine #heavybag #bag #shapewear #fajas #heels #highheels #shoulderpain #digestivehealth #wholebodyhealth #harmful #instagood

Harmful habits hurting your posture

In a different video, the chiropractor touches upon the most common and dangerous habit impacting mankind – the extensive use of smartphones. Dr. Suzi Schulman warns against one position while using your phone.

While the artificial light from the device is shown to reduce your longevity, looking down on your phone while holding it in your hands can “reverse the curve in your neck,” says the chiropractor. She claims sitting in the unhealthy position strains the brain stem so much that “it’ll take years off your life.”

She says you should also never sit with your wallet in your back pocket as this causes your pelvis to tilt, causing the entire spine to compensate. Indulging in this habit for years can cause early wear and tear and arthritis throughout your spine.

The chiropractor doesn’t recommend sleeping on your stomach as it forces you to turn your head to one side, cutting the signal between the brain and the body the entire time youre asleep causing tension.
