McDonalds Sprite tastes spicy
Posts about McDonalds Sprite tasting spicy have been circling since around 2022, when the meme took over Twitter/X.
Customers think the extreme fizz creates a similar sensation in your mouth when you slurp as eating hot food.
One person wrote on the platform Why is McDonalds Sprite so bloody spicy? while another joked: I wish my dubstep was as spicy as McDonalds Sprite.
Someone else agreed: Sometimes you just need a spicy sprite from McDonalds to make your day better.
McDonalds even joined in the trend, sharing a meme claiming their Sprite wiped out the dinosaurs and another saying it tastes like that static feeling on a TV.
Plus, someone even created an image of a can of “Spicy Sprite” with the McDonalds logo on the front which took over social media.
Why McDonald’s Sprite is spicy
The drink obviously isnt actually spicy and doesnt contain any chilli. However, it mimics the feeling due to the techniques the fast food chain uses.
McDonalds told Newsweek: “Truth be told, when serving the fan-favorite, we simply follow steps from our friends at Coca-Cola – then add a little McDonald’s magic – to ensure a tasty, gold standard fountain drink for our fans.
They revealed that the chain filters and pre-chills all the water and Sprite syrup before it enters their fountain dispensers, which is the secret to it tasting so much better than Sprite from a bottle.
“We also keep our fountain beverage system cold so your drink is always refreshing. And we can’t forget about the straw – it’s slightly wider than a typical straw so all that Sprite taste can hit your taste buds,” they continued.
McDonald’s Coca-Cola tastes extra great for the same reason too, with the water and syrup also being pre-chilled and fountains kept cold. The company made a public statement explaining why the drink is extra yummy in 2021.
So, that’s the secret!
