You can ditch your anti-wrinkle products because a study suggests making one special addition to your daily skincare routine can “naturally” treat the fine lines and hyperpigmentation on your face.

Secret ingredient treats facial wrinkles naturally

Dr Neera, a dermatologist trained at Harvard Medical School, claims in her TikTok video that eating three handfuls of almonds every day can treat wrinkles on your face.

I tell my patients eating three handfuls of almonds per day is a natural way to treat wrinkles,” the overlay text in her video with more than 81,000 views reads.

Speaking to the New York Post, Neera explained: “Eating almonds may modestly, but not drastically, improve wrinkles, but more research is needed. For best results, wear daily sunscreen, use an antioxidant serum like Vitamin C, and incorporate retinoids into your routine.

She used a study by the University of California from 2021 to back her claim up. A 24-week clinical study showed that women who consumed about 400 calories of almonds per day (roughly three handfuls) had a significant reduction in facial wrinkles/fine lines and hyperpigmentation,” she told the outlet.

Benefits of eating almonds

Eating almonds is beneficial in several ways. The study conducted on 49 subjects, who were postmenopausal women, showed six months into the experiment their “wrinkle severity decreased by 16% and hyperpigmentation decreased by 20%.”

Those who ate almonds every day found the skin on their cheeks and forehead to be more hydrated.

However, the beauty hack may not be suitable for all – especially if you’re allergic to it. In that case, you can use other Omega 3 supplements to derive similar benefits, the dermatologist said in her comments.

Almonds are rich in antioxidants, vitamin E, protein, and fiber, which reportedly support heart health and maintain your blood pressure and blood sugar levels among other benefits. It’s also believed to lower cholesterol levels and help in weight loss when added to your diet.
