Scuba diver finds lost iPhone in a river but was surprised when he turned it back on

Losing their smartphone while holidaying is every traveler’s worst nightmare. However, a popular scuba diver is restoring hope in people by finding their lost phones.

Losing your phone is one thing but watching it drown in the water right before your eyes is painful beyond words. One woman who similarly lost her iPhone in the river was at a loss for words when it was returned to her.

Scuba diver finds iPhone in the river

TikTok user Dallas is a professional scuba diver popular for finding anything and everything from the bottom of the river.

His latest video features one of his expeditions during which he finds an iPhone (probably 12 or 13), intact with nothing but the protective case on.

He has amassed thousands of followers on social media for restoring and returning lost phones to their original owners, including the iPhone he recently found.

However, he later found out that the phone had drowned for months, and was unsure if would turn back on when first found.

He brings it home and lets it dry for a “few days”. And much to his surprise, the iPhone turns back on when plugged into the charger.

Woman’s priceless reaction to finding her lost phone

As the phone was locked with a password, he removed the SIM and inserted it into his phone to extract the details of the owner, who he later got in touch with.

The phone owner couldn’t believe the scuba driver when he mentioned her lost phone. He asks if she would Facetime with him to show her the phone.

Her first question to him was: “Does it turn on?”, when Dallas flipped the iPhone to reveal that it was fully functioning, despite being submerged in the water for over four months.

The woman on the other end of the call says she is “lightheaded” upon realizing that her lost phone is as good as it was when it fell into the river.

Dallas returns the iPhone to its owner with some goodies as the woman can’t stop thanking him for his good deed.

If you find yourself in a similar situation with a soaking-wet phone, do not dry it using the infamous rice hack as it can do more damage. Try an easier method using silica gel packets instead.
