Red Nail theory isnt entirely wrong as experts reveal the power of bright color on men

Besties Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez’s new romances have fans convinced that the viral “red nail theory” is true and works magic for your love life. Now many are painting their nails red and waiting for the results to show.

There is a new TikTok theory going viral every few months. However, few are quite as popular as the red nail theory. It arrived in early 2022 and, almost two years later, it’s still being talked about all across social media. The theory’s recent popularity can be credited to pop stars Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez. The red nail rage has also got people discussing how, if at all, the color red affects men and makes women more attractive to them.

What is the red nail theory?

For the unversed, the red nail theory suggests that having a red nail color makes women more desirable and attractive to men. The term was coined by TikTok user Robyn DelMonte, who goes by @GirlBossTown on the platform.

Theorizing why guys find red nails attractive on a woman, Robyn says that it is because it reminds men of their mom. She explains how, in the 90s, most women had red nails. Hence seeing the same nail color on a girl makes guys think of their moms taking care of them when they were growing up. While many questioned the TikToker’s reasoning behind men being attracted to red nails, she managed to start a trend that has been going strong for almost two years now. Many women have gotten red nails since.

Some say the theory is true and they received a lot of male attention because of their nails. Others say it simply did not work for them. However, Taylor and Selena sporting red nails amid their romances has kick-started the trend of women getting red nails. Many fans are convinced that the theory has worked in the musicians’ favor.
