Quaker Oats announces mass December 2023 recall due to potential Salmonella contamination
Cereal and snack bar giants Quaker Oats have opted to recall a significant amount of their produce shortly before the holiday season, citing fears over potential contamination.
In a brief statement, Quaker confirmed that they had made the decision due to fears that their products may have encountered salmonella, though did not go into details about how the potential contamination may have occurred.
The recall affects consumers in the United States, as well as Puerto Rico, Guam and Saipan.
While there have been no confirmed injuries or illnesses associated with the products, Quaker noted that Salmonella is a highly dangerous bacterial infection, that can cause “serious and sometimes fatal infections” in immuno-compromised people.
