Omah Lay girl addresses concert controversy explaining her boyfriend’s pre-agreement
Nigerian singer Omah Lay invited a female fan on stage at a recent concert in London. However, the woman has since received backlash online when people realized her boyfriend was watching in the crowd.
Jess, known by many as the ‘Omah Lay girl’, has addressed the situation in a TikTok video, explaining that she had spoken to her partner about being invited on stage before the concert controversy.

Controversy has stemmed from Nigerian singer Omah Lay’s concert performance on the European leg of his Boy Alone Tour at the Eventim Apollo in London on Tuesday, February 20.
The artist invited a female fan from the front row, who reportedly attended the concert with her partner, to join him on stage during the rendition of his song Bend You’ and their chemistry seemed insane.
Videos of the duo dancing and their raunchy silhouettes have been shared online by concertgoers and have caused an uproar.
Many people on social media are condemning the videos as the fan was attending the concert with her boyfriend. Some people took to X/Twitter to share their shocked reactions.
Jess responds to Omah Lay concert backlash
Jess (@jesssani) has over 70,000 TikTok followers but she has turned off the comments beneath all of her videos due to the backlash she has received since the incident.
The concertgoer received over four million views on her original video with the text: “Since I’ve been getting so many insults and threats I will soon be doing a storytime on what really happened and behind the scenes…”
This was followed by another video titled: “Addressing the Omah Lay situation, part 1” which has reached more than 3 million views.
In the clip, Jess begins by publicly apologizing to the man she was attending the concert with: “It was honestly a mistake, if I knew that it would get this far I wouldn’t even go to the concert because this is not worth the hate I am receiving.”

TikTok video also addresses rumors sparked by the situation
Despite the heavy backlash, Omah Lay has sent a message to the fan, expressing his love for her and calling her the name ‘Fafa.’
Clearing up the rumors sparked from the situation, Jess refers to the name she has been called online since the concert and asks: “Who is Fafa?”
Jess clarifies that during the concert, she clearly stated her name in the microphone.
Some people on social media have implied that Jess’s boyfriend had bought the tickets for the couple to attend the Omah Lay concert. Jess debunks this information and states that she had paid for the tickets.
@jesssani then explains that she and her boyfriend have previously had private conversations about going on the state at Omah Lay concerts.
As a big fan of the Nigerian artist, Jess explains that it is a common occurrence for Omah Lay to invite his fans to dance on stage with him at his shows: “I said to him, if I were to get called on stage I am going to go on stage, and he said that’s fine.”
When beckoned onto the stage by the singer, Jess explains her excitement because Omah Lay is one of her favorite artists.
Some reactions online also suggested that Jess was moving away from her boyfriend while waiting to go on stage with the singer.
Jess corrects this piece of information and says that she was simply waiting for the security to help her on stage.
