New TikTok trend swaps thongs for granny panties, a fashion trend we can finally agree on
Gone are the days when ladies saved granny panties for the laundry day. Commoners as well as A-listers are swapping their thongs for more ‘traditional’ underwear, creating a new fashion wave on TikTok in the process.
Unlike other fashion or beauty trends that aim at aesthetics rather than comfort, granny panties are growing popular for the way they feel when worn and TikTok users have no regrets about switching from tight undies.
New trend sees thongs being swapped for granny panties
TikTok users are posting videos of themselves in granny panties to show how comfortable they are while flaunting the unconventional style.
The trend is favored by many choosing fuller coverage over wedge-inducing thongs – one of the most annoying and uncomfortable feelings.
Several social media users argue, that what’s worn inside is nobody’s business even if they choose to don a fancy outfit from the outside.
Whereas, celebrities like Bella Hadid, Kylie, and Kendall Jenner are also seen in granny panties, but their style leans towards aesthetic appeal.
In recent times, A-listers including Dakota Johnson and Beyonce have gone old school to show off the high-waisted underwear underneath transparent dresses.
Working women are turning to granny panties more just to make sure they don’t have to keep picking wedgies every time they move, especially in an office setup.
And guess what? Ladies or their significant others don’t think of the traditional panties as non-sensual, either. The general manager for the lingerie line Cosabella revealed that demand for granny panties is at an all-time high around Valentine’s Day.
Silvia Campello said: “Women [are buying] more full coverage intimates ahead of Valentines Day because full coverage lingerie can still be sensual and romantic, offering a different aesthetic from more revealing styles.”
“Post-pandemic fashion trends have evolved to prioritize comfort and functionality over traditional standards,” she added.
TikTok users choose comfort over everything else
Girls with big backs are eternally grateful to panties that provide fuller coverage. Most of them have no plans of going back to using the more stylish underwear, thongs, or G-strings as nothing provides the same comfort as the large knickers.
One content creator said she wouldn’t stop wearing granny panties even if her choice pushes people to unfollow her.
“Nothing like the fuller panties because I don’t want to keep picking wedgies on the couch,” said another.
