Fans of New Girl might be having a moment of de ja vu, with the study resembling that famous scene when Nick admits to never having washed his towel.
When Schmidt discovered that Nick was accidentally sharing his towel every single day, Nick claimed to have never washed the shared towel. No, I dont wash the towel, the towel washes me, said Nick. What am I going to do, wash the shower next? Wash a bar of soap? I get out of the shower, Im clean as a baby and I use the towel.

Theres good reason to wash your towels
Despite Nick from New Girls belief that the towel stays clean thanks to only drying a freshly-showered body, it couldnt be further from the truth.
The study found that one in 9 respondents arent concerned by bacteria or hygiene issues with their towels, but experts say you should be.
Dr. Hamdan Abdullah Hamed MBChB, a board-certified Dermatologist and Co-founder of PowerYourCurls.com, said: Towels tend to accumulate moisture, creating an environment conducive to bacterial and fungal growth. Bacteria like staphylococcus aureus can lead to skin infections, while fungi like Candida yeast can cause issues like athlete’s foot or yeast infections
Additionally, dirty towels may contain allergens that can trigger allergic reactions or skin irritations in sensitive individuals. Therefore, it is recommended to wash towels after every three to four uses to eliminate bacteria, dirt, dead skin cells, and allergens, ensuring optimal hygiene and minimizing health risks.
