Meaning of ‘bwthhybl’ explained

‘Bwthhybl’ means “Bella! Where the hell have you been, loca?” and is a line from the second Twilight movie New Moon.

The vampire film was released in 2009 and follows Bella getting closer to werewolf Jacob after Edward ends their relationship.

In the famous scene, Bella, played by Kristen Stewart, goes to visit Jacob, played by Taylor Lautner, at his home.

He hasn’t seen her for a really long time and says as he spots her: “Bella, where the hell have you been, loca?”

‘Loca’ means crazy in Spanish, and the funny line hilariously shows the teen’s awkwardness around his love interest.

Twilight line is now a viral meme

As explained by Know Your Meme, the reference went viral on social media in 2021 and has now become a meme.

The line is commonly used in jokes amongst the Twilight fandom, the most common being one that says “it’s always wyd and never bwthhybl”.

One more:

Earlier this year, Lautner repeated the 15-year-old line in an interview and fans went crazy as they had been waiting for it since 2009.

‘Titsoak’ is another famous one

The joke is often shared alongside another Twilight acronym ‘Titsoak’ which means “This is the skin of a killer, Bella!”

It’s said by Edward Cullen, played by Robert Pattinson, when he tells Bella he is a vampire with skin that twinkles in the sunlight.

The line has similarly become a viral meme on TikTok and Twitter/X, with people often sharing it thanks to its unintentional comedy.

Both are taking over the internet right now as many rewatched the Twilight movies over the Christmas break.
