McDonalds combo of breakfast and dessert item is turning heads – but not in a good way

The internet is divided over a McDonalds hack involving ice cream and hashbrowns of all things, but despite the controversy, its hugely popular in foreign countries.

The McDonalds secret menu is a thing of legend, from the budget-friendly bundle box to the hulking Monster Mac. Some items are not for the faint-hearted.

Introducing the McDonalds hash brown McFlurry sandwich

Some fast food options are not to everyones liking, like the Burger King Shrimp Whopper, but for every hater, there is a staunch supporter. That fact is no more obvious than with the McDonalds hash brown McFlurry sandwich.

The tasty treat went viral in 2023 after Australian mom and businesswoman Kelly Arvan shared the hack online.

I dreamed about this, she said. Salty, crunchy, potato-y, sweet.

To take part, simply smear a McFlurry between two breakfast hashbrowns. Its not particularly difficult, though you might struggle to find a franchise serving both breakfast and ice cream at the same time.

According to Snackolator, who earlier teased the Raising Canes dupe, the trend caught on so much that McDonalds in Singapore released a promotion around it.

McDonald’s in Singapore was actually promoting this trend and gave out 50 free Hash Brown McFlurry sandwiches at each restaurant to try – quite a smart marketing move if I do say so myself, he said.

Americans arent sold, but our stomachs are craving it

As is the case with most trendy food ideas, there are two very clear camps when it comes to the McDonalds hash brown McFlurry sandwich.

Every day I see something on this account that makes me sick, one person said on Snackolators post.

Another said: Even if it does taste good, which I severely doubt, its pointless anyway cuz that damned ice cream machine never works.

Nonetheless, there are clear supporters of the trend, as one person said: Lowkey probably good hate to say it.

In her review for TODAY, Heather Martin wrote: And then I had another big bite. Im not surprised this one is making the rounds. Its reminiscent of a more familiar salty-sweet fast food combo Wendys Frosty and fries but even more decadent, and the texture from the candy seals the deal.
