McDonald’s Breakfast Bagel Sandwich is back, but only in some locations
A much-loved McDonald’s breakfast item has made a triumphant return to some restaurants this week – the Breakfast Bagel Sandwich!
They first debuted at McDonald’s in 1999 and were a permanent menu item for more than 20 years before being dropped during the pandemic.

McDonald’s Breakfast Bagel Sandwich is back
Stores across Southern California are now selling the Breakfast Bagel Sandwich again, with four varieties permanently added to the menu.
There’s Bacon, Egg & Cheese, Sausage Egg & Cheese, Steak, Egg & Cheese or Egg & Cheese, which can all be ordered as a meal or on their own.
Bacon, Egg and Cheese features a toasted bagel with butter, thick-cut Applewood smoked bacon, a fluffy folded egg, and two slices of melty American cheese.
Or, you can get the same bagel with a juicy sausage patty or steak patty instead, for an incredible breakfast treat.
Available across Southern California
McDonald’s told Fox 11 that all of its Southern California restaurants will carry the breakfast item from February 5.
Locations where it is available include Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego and Ventura counties.
You might also find the breakfast bagels at some Northern California stores, but it’s best to check the menu to be sure.
All three varieties are available to dine-in, at the Drive Thru, via McDelivery and on the McDonald’s app at participating stores in the state.
The bacon and sausage options retail for $5.29 in most locations, while the steak is a little more expensive at $6.39. However, prices may vary.
They will remain on the menu “for the foreseeable future,” a spokesperson told KTLA 5, so are a permanent addition for now.
Bagels could return nationwide
In 2021, McDonald’s said they were “hopeful” to see the Breakfast Bagel Sandwich return in the future in a comment to LadBible.
“Bagels haven’t been on our ‘reduced menu’ since reopening [after the pandemic]. We’re hopeful we’ll see their return at some point in the future… 2021 needs more bagels!” they said.
Perhaps they will launch nationwide in the coming years, but for now you can enjoy the brand new Double Big Mac instead.
The burger launched at the end of January and is “double the fun” with four stacked 100% all-beef patties and more of their iconic Big Mac sauce.
