Man tries to reorder 2022 grocery shop and ‘feels sick’ at how much food prices have increased
Everyone knows the cost of living has increased in America and other countries across the world, but seeing the price hikes right in front of you makes it all the more real.
A man tried to reorder an entire online grocery shop from Walmart and couldn’t believe how much the price of food has gone up in the last two years. It’s more than triple!

Man shocked by price of grocery shop
The man, who goes by the name Sewerlidd on TikTok, went onto his Walmart account and was scrolling through previous orders when he noticed a “reorder all” button, which adds all the same items into your cart.
He found an order of 53 items from 2022, which was a whole month of groceries. It cost him $126.67 at the time, and he decided to click on the reorder button to see how much it would cost now – a staggering $414.39!
Exactly the same grocery store shop containing the 53 items would cost almost four times the price in 2024. The TikTok user was absolutely gobsmacked by the price and said in shock: “I feel like I’m gonna be sick.”

Some are doubting whether it’s real
In the comments, many are dumbfounded by the price increase, with one person writing: “I knew it was going to be bad. I didn’t know it was gonna be this bad.”
“Thank you for sharing this. Now I feel a little less gaslit about grocery prices cause it HAS gone crazy and it’s NOT just me!” said another.
A third person added: “I used to spend $180 for 2 weeks for my family of four and the dog. I am now spending upwards of $430 and trying to figure out what else I can cut.”
However, some are doubting whether the clip is actually real as at the end of the video, you can see he has ordered three lots of crackers and Fritos.
The man could have bought three of each in his original 53 item order, or some think he may have multiplied the entire order by three to make it look like it would cost more.

Grocery store prices rise by 25%
Either way, it certainly spreads an important message about the cost of living, which is indeed rising to extreme levels.
Statista figures show that it rose dramatically in 2022, with inflation hitting a high of 9.1% and many essential goods and services become far more expensive. The price of eggs increased by nearly 60% and the cost of electricity rose by 15.6 percent.
Inflation fell over 2023 and is now the lowest it has been since 2021, at 2.5%. However, the price of goods has remained high. According to Consumer Price Index data, grocery store prices have risen by 25% since 2019. That’s a whole quarter!
This is due to begin slowing down, although food costs are still predicted to rise by a further 2.2 percent in 2024 and 1.6% in 2025. The cost of living is highest in Hawaii, District of Columbia, Massachusetts, California and New York.
