Life coach says having one night stands makes you a psycho

A self-proclaimed “transformational” life coach was met with stern pushback for his hot take on one night stands.

If you regularly spend the night with strangers that you’ll never see again, then I’m afraid we have some bad news – you may be a psychopath. At least, that is the scorching hot take coming from Naftali Moses, a life coach whose rather traditional, conservative views on modern-day relationships is causing commotion online.

Life coach says you’re a psychopath if you enjoy one night stands

In a clip from a podcast captioned “Stop lying to yourself”, the Los Angeles-based life coach, who is described on his website as a “traveler on the path of self-discovery and growth”, claims that spontaneous one-night rendezvous are immoral for two reasons.

The first of which, Moses contends, is that the ability to have and enjoy one-night stands suggests the participants are “emotionally numb” to the power of “the act of love” – aka, sex.

Secondly, Moses suggests that there is an inherent selfishness at play within a one night stand, stating: “You are willing to take something from somebody else without asking for it, meaning you will selfishly meet your needs without any consideration of the other person. And I think that makes you a psychopath.”

Moses taken to task by comments section

While Moses did garner over a quarter of a million likes on his controversial clip, many of its 3.5 million viewers took to the TikTok comments section to protest against the claims made by the life coach.

“Calling people psychopaths because they have one night stands is insane.” Wrote one angry user. “Like get offline, go outside and touch some grass.”

Their thoughts were echoed by another viewer who added: “How is a one night stand taking something from somebody else without asking for it? Genuinely dont understand this reasoning”.

One popular comment joked “He (Moses) got ghosted by a one night stand and has never gotten over it”.

Moses’ take was defended by some, however, with one user writing: “Look at everyone so triggered in the comments with their one night stands lol”.

“This is why I do not engage in any intimacy until (wedding ring emoji)”, added another.

Moses further justified his take by concluding the video with: “The reoccurring behavior of having one night stands after the other is not somebody who is meeting their needs.

“It’s somebody who doesn’t feel they’re good enough to have those needs met by somebody they respect.”

What do people really think about one night stands?

With Moses’ views on casual relationships now well documented, we sought to uncover exactly how the general population views the taboo activity of staying over with strangers.

And, according to figures published just last month, one night stands remain pretty popular in 2024.

A study published by statistics site Gitnux claims that two thirds of Americans have had a one night stand at least once in their life.

Of those who have had one, just 23% of women and 26% of men are said to have regretted it – suggesting that around 3/4 of Americans are not very concerned about what a life coach from TikTok thinks about their personal relationships.
