Latina woman says dating American men is hard because they lack initiative

Certain dating etiquettes are universal and not following them could be a red flag warning. A Latina lady points out one such debatable behavior she noticed in American men, that makes them “hard” to go out with.

Swiping left on players and manipulators is not enough to evade a bad dating experience – the first few interactions with a romantic interest are important to determine the relationship‘s future. However, nothing good could ever come out of a one-sided relationship.

Latina woman points out problem with dating American men

TikTok user Yoshi’s sentiments about dating American men are echoed by a few other women. They think that dating American men is difficult because of something they do.

Yoshi, whose content is popular for offering dating advice, claims she has dated both Americans and non-Americans, which has helped her make the observation she’s shared in her video.

She says non-American men she has dated are keen on taking the initiative while planning dates, which isn’t common among American men.

While the former ensures her schedule is free and accommodates a plan according to the woman’s convenience – where to eat and how to commute – American men supposedly lack this quality.

“When I go on dates with American men, they say, ‘Oh, let’s go on a date. Where are you free?’ I’ll give him a day and he’ll be like “Okay, let’s go on a date that day’,” she says, while wondering about the plan that wasn’t discussed.

She’s often annoyed because “they keep you hanging” until the day of the date because of their supposedly busy schedule.

Then comes the cheque

This is one of the most debated topics in the dating world – Who should pay on the first date? Well, a relationship expert thinks the person who plans the date is responsible for paying.

Yoshi claims American men hesitate to pick up the cheque at the end of the date and often expect to split it or wait until their date picks it up. The TikTok user claims this has happened to her when she’s gone out with men.

However, non-Americans she has dated are quick to clear the cheque without looking at the price and she’s never expected to take care of it.

Some users have noted in the comments that American men’s unwillingness to take the initiative narrows down the culture they grew up in, and the same goes for non-Americans who don’t wait for the lady to plan the date or pay for it.

“American men are raised differently based on parental generations. He let me pick everything, picked me up & just paid that tab,” said one.

Another user commented: “Im Lebanese!! I’ve been saying this! My husband asked me on a date and made plans but he wanted to see me even SOONER than our plan.”

“Im coming up on my 10-year anniversary with my husband and Ive always initiated date nights and I keep asking what are we doing for our 10 year and he either ignores me or just says ‘I don’t Know’,” read a third comment.
