KFC just launched a sandwich with a whole waffle inside, and it looks epic
If you’re feeling hungry, stop reading now. KFC has just launched a burger with an entire waffle in the middle – and it looks insane.
The menu item is exclusively available at restaurants in Australia, and people in the United States are really jealous of the sweet sandwich.
KFC’s new Waffle Double
It’s called the Waffle Double, which is a twist on the fast food chain’s iconic Double Double, a chicken sandwich with�two pieces of fried chicken fillet instead of bread.
The sandwich consists of a golden, fluffy�waffle, bacon and Smokey Maple Mayo packed between two fillets of scrumptious new Original Crispy chicken.
It’s not a brand-new menu item for KFC. The Waffle Double has previously launched in many places including New Zealand and Singapore, but this is the first time it’s arrived in Australia.
“An Aussie first…The Waffle Double. Original Crispy, sandwiching a golden waffle, topped with bacon, AND a drizzle of our smoky maple mayo. Chefs kiss,” KFC said.
The waffle burger comes alongside two other Double Double-themed menu items, including an Original Double and Zinger Double.

The new menu item launched on June 11 across Australia, and many have already taken to TikTok to share their reviews.
“It is pretty good,” one guy said. “You get that battery, waffle-y taste with the cinnamon. Mixed with the chicken it’s nice. It works.”
“Wow, the flavor is really good,” said another. “The waffles have some sugar on them and they’re really sweet, so it just compliments it really well.”
She added that the bacon also works really well with the waffle and maple mayo, and said it’s “so delicious”.
Some have said the chicken sandwich is a little too sweet, but that depends on how much of a sweet tooth you have.
The only complaint people have is that it’s far too big to fit your mouth around and bite, making the burger a little difficult to eat.
‘This is exactly what the US needs’
US-based foodie Snackolator shared a picture of the sandwich on Instagram, and people across America are really jealous of the menu item.
One person commented: “Why do other countries get these and we don’t?”
“This is exactly what the US needs,” said another.
A third person added: “Bring it to Kentucky!”
Sadly, there are currently no plants to bring the Waffle Down to America right now. However, there is a new menu item to try.
KFC is shaking up its saucy nuggets for the summer, with a brand new Honey BBQ flavor alongside returning Korean BBQ and Honey Sriracha. The sauce is sweet, smoky, and tangy with brown sugar and honey, rounding out the tanginess of tomato and secret spices.
If you were a fan of KFC’s Twister Wraps, you could be in luck because the chain is also testing their return in Nashville. They haven’t been on the menu since 2014 – but could return nationwide if the test is popular.
