KFC issues challenge to competitors with brand-new chicken tenders and comeback sauce

KFC is challenging competitors in the fast food market to beat their brand-new chicken tenders, which they are releasing alongside a zesty “comeback” sauce and tonnes of savings.

KFC is one of the most popular fast-food eateries in America, so much so that they now have over 30,000 restaurants in over 150 countries. Fans have loved their iconic chicken from the outset, but that isn’t to say they aren’t equally in love with unique releases like the waffle sandwich.

KFC has signalled the drums of war

It’s been five years since the end of the chicken wars, a marketing campaign that unintentionally sparked the passive-aggressive fast food fight. Every major retailer launched their version of the chicken sandwich, but it’s still unclear who actually won.

KFC, who just last month released friend chicken merch, seemingly restarted the war on Monday as they detailed future plans in a press release.

To celebrate the upcoming war, KFC is bringing brand new chicken tenders to the menu, which of course include their signature blend of 11 herbs and spices in a double-breaded coating. Customers can expect to snack on the tasty treats for $5, which includes three tenders and two sauces.

Your first sauce option is the classic KFC sauce, a “smoky blend of tangy and sweet flavors” that would pair perfectly with your tenders. You’ve then got the Sticky Chicky, a sort of sweet-and-sour sauce that combines pineapple, garlic, vinegar, and chili.

But if you’re looking for something original, then the brand-new Comeback Sauce might be for you. As per the release, it’s a “creamy, zesty, craveable sauce.”

On October 17, customers in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Atlanta can expect to view the fighting up close as KFC gives away free chicken tenders on their competitor’s doorstep.

To sweeten the sting of the fast food war, KFC is hoping to capture hearts and minds with new Cherry Pie Poppers.

The sweet treat is described as a “warm cherry pie filling wrapped in a buttery and flaky crust” while the new Cranberry Lemonade captures the wintery spirit with fruity and tart flavors.

Loyal customers with the KFC app can expect increased savings throughout the rest of October as KFC launches 13 Days of Daily Deals from October 19 to October 31.
