Keeping cell phones too close to your body causes premature aging, warns doctor

People can’t imagine going about their day without their smartphones, although using them excessively can be detrimental to your health.

If you thought only your sleep was affected by smartphones, wait until you hear about the damage they can do to your skin. Dr. Janine Bowring warns keeping your phone too close to your body could cause premature aging.

Doctor says smartphones can cause wrinkles

Gone are the days when people used phones for important communication. In today’s world, smartphones are used for multitasking, which means they are always too close to us.

Although various features of smartphones have made our lives easy, the electromagnetic fields emitted by these devices can affect your skin without you realizing it.

Dr. Janine Bowring says the “manmade EMFs” can untangle your collagen, thus causing it to lose its piezoelectricity. “Your electrons become lost, your collagen becomes weaker, and that’s when you can start to see more fine lines,” she explains.

The doctor’s warning about the harmful effects of light and electromagnetic fields from cell phones is backed by studies, which show that “exposure to blue light can lead to different levels of damage in human eyes and skin.”

Researchers warn that even “short exposures” to light emitted from electronic devices can increase the generation of reactive oxygen species, which is linked to aging.

3 phone usage tips to prevent aging

You don’t have to stop using your smartphone altogether. Being mindful of certain habits makes a huge difference. Dr. Janine recommends the following tips to ensure your favorite device isn’t causing you to age rapidly.

One of the easiest ways to lower your EMF exposure is by keeping your phone away from you as much as possible while using it. It’s highly recommended not to bring your phone to your bed.

Although most of us use our phones when plugged in to charge, the common habit is extremely dangerous. The naturopathic doctor recommends charging your phone in a different room to further increase the distance between you and the device.

When you’re not using your phone, the doctor advises putting it on airplane mode as it “lowers the EMFs.”
