Japan’s ‘Yellow Spring Road’ is so beautiful it ‘doesn’t feel real’

Videos of a place in Japan that’s been nicknamed ‘Yellow Spring Road’ have gone viral on TikTok and had everyone in awe.

The stunning yellow trees look like something from fiction, but they are real and occur across Japan during one season.

Japan’s ‘Yellow Spring Road’

The trees were shared in a viral video titled “Places on Earth that don’t feel real” which has been reposted numerous times.

In the breathtaking clip, a series of stunning yellow trees line the side of an entire road and one even arches right across it.

The TikTok then goes on to show other videos that “don’t feel real” including a woman diving into bright blue water and people cycling on water.

It’s not clear where the video was actually taken, but the yellow trees are a natural phenomenon in Eastern Asia.

One person commented “Magnificent” while another added: “So beautiful.”

They’re called Gingko trees

They are called Gingko trees, which usually reach a staggering height of 20 to 35 meters. However, some in China are over 50 meters.

The tree has an angular crown and long erratic branches. It’s deep-rooted and resistant to wind and snow damage.

Some of them are more than 2,500 years old, and the leaves turn from green to bright yellow during Autumn.

Viral videos of the trees on TikTok are likely to be enhanced with a filter to make the color seem even brighter.

However, they are still a very impressive sight and people from across the world flock to see them during November.

Trees produce yellow fruit

The Gingko tree also produces a bright yellow fruit from summer to autumn, but they’re not actually edible.

They are around 2cm long and have a soft, fleshy, yellow outer layer that actually looks quite appealing in appearance.

However, they contain butyric acid, which smells like rancid butter or vomit. This acid is actually toxic to humans.

The fruits do produce seeds that can be eaten in small quantities though and are used to treat various ailments.
