iPhone update to include AI-generated emojis as fans beg ‘that’s enough’

Apple is reportedly gearing up to launch AI-generated emojis as part of its upcoming artificial integration with iOS18.

Artificial intelligence has taken the world by storm in 2024, so much so that you can now program a robot significant other on sites like ChatGPT. Though still somewhat controversial, largely over safety concerns and the possibility of AI stealing jobs, it’s clear the latest and treated tech advancement is not going anywhere. Seriously, some are even suggesting that our AIs could be dating one another in just a few years.

The iPhone is getting AI emojis in iOS18

In just a few weeks, tech moguls and addicts from across the globe will digitally attend Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference on June 10. During the event, Apple officials are believed to be unveiling their latest innovations including the earlier rumored AI integration.

In a report for Bloomberg, Mark Gurman outlined a few of the announcements and the exciting new iPhone AI emojis. While customers would usually pick an emoji from hundreds of pre-installed images, the new update would allow their phones to generate unique off-the-cuff emojis for every need and situation.

“The company is developing software that can create custom emojis on the fly, based on what users are texting,” he explained. “That means youll suddenly have an all-new emoji for any occasion, beyond the catalog of options that Apple currently offers on the iPhone and other devices.”

Though AI-generated iPhone emojis are undoubtedly exciting, it’s but the crowning jewel of what Apple employees are referring to as Project Greymatter. Said project includes redesigning the home screen so icon color can be changed and move freely around the space.

Customers are split on the emoji news

Of course, with every new technological advancement comes the possibility that it would be used and abused for nefarious purposes. Already, social media users are speculating about the world of inappropriate AI emojis you could generate, but presumably, Apple will be installing some kind of safety algorithm.

Besides the body-part emojis you would expect from the hordes of Twitter, top suggestions included actual guns instead of water pistols, specific food choices, and even celebrities.

“They don’t realize the chaos theyve just caused,” one person wrote, as another said, “Oh ima have a field day when this comes out.”

Someone else said: “Omg the future really is here, this lowkey sounds so cool. But AI is still scary!”
