iOS 18 could finally give iPhone users highly demanded feature
It’s expected that Apple’s upcoming operating software iOS 18 will allow people to customize the layout of home screen app icons on their devices.
Love it or hate it, phones and devices have become an integral part of our daily lives, so there’s always room to improve them. Tech giant Apple has made a habit of unveiling new operating software for its products each year, bringing changes to the way we use our tech. Looking ahead, it’s anticipated that the company will unveil its latest software update, the iOS 18, for iPhone, at its World Wide Developers Conference in June. There has already been some early speculation and buzz around what to expect, and it may just be the update you’ve been waiting for&

Apple iOS 18 expected to improve home customization
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the upcoming iOS 18 update is expected to allow iPhone users to get inventive when managing the layout of their home screen and its icons.
Dishing out the details in his Power On newsletter recently, he teased that the improved Home Screen will offer a “more customizable” experience for people. If this turns out to be the case, users will be free to arrange icons as they please, suiting their own needs.
Although it’s unlikely that the grid system will be broken anytime soon, having more freedom to organize is something that people have been clamoring for.
For example, more freedom could introduce the ability to create columns of space in between app icons.
Even though there are apps that make it easier to customize on iPhone already, the iOS update would make it official rather than something you have to turn to, say, Shortcuts for. I’d be happy with that!
When might iOS 18 be available?
With the iOS 18 unveiling thought to be taking place in June, it’s speculated that it could be released as early as September, opening up the update’s benefits for users.
Eyes are already peeled ahead of the WWDC. And on the whole, the iOS 18 update is expected to be the biggest one yet.
A new home screen would certainly be interesting, and as you’d expect, there have been a variety of reactions to the possibility.
“I have my sincere doubts, I don’t believe much will change,” one tweeted in reaction to the information relayed in the newsletter. “Every year the same story,” somebody reacted, “and the result is also the same.”
Another was more optimistic, writing: “Hopefully, it’s time to change it up.”
