Internet divided as animal expert swims in Amazon Rainforest with sinister pink river dolphin

The internet is concerned for an animal expert after he shared a clip of swimming with a pink river dolphin in the Amazon rainforest, the land of anaconda, giant centipedes, and piranhas.

Humans might be the most dangerous animal on the planet, but Mother Nature gives us a run for our money. Not only do some animals have iron-tipped teeth for tearing at prey, but shark attacks are on the rise and even the mushrooms are out for blood.

There are dolphins in the Amazon Rainforest, and they’re pink!

By now, you should understand that dolphins have quite the reputation despite their cheery dispositions and giggly clicks. Thankfully, their cousins in the Amazon Rainforest seem to be much more stable.

YouTuber and animal expert Wild Charles (@wildcharles) is no stranger to getting up close and personal with some of the world’s most deadly creatures. He’s cuddled with crocodiles, saved venomous snakes, and even watched on as a hippo gave birth.

In a recent TikTok, Charles could be seen swimming in the mangroves with a pink river dolphin. Such creatures are endemic in South America, with researchers speculating that their signature color comes from scar tissue and injury. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature now estimates that there are only 9,000 left in the wild.

Though undeniably beautiful, the Amazon river dolphin has an interesting myth based around it. In past ages, some believed the dolphins would take human form to lure unsuspecting men and women to the underworld.

In the clip, the wild dolphin loved swimming around Charles as he shared interesting facts and cautionary tales. He said his new friend had visibly signs of distress, no doubt from boats.

Attacks on humans are rare, in fact, they love playing with us, especially children. Despite that, when attacks do happen, they can be violent as one woman’s food was bitten to the bone in 2023.

The dolphin was cute, but what about the other animals?

Though many Wild Charles’ fans gushed over the brilliant display of affection, others were concerned for his safety as he swam in one of the world’s most biodiverse areas.

“Theyre beautiful, but arent you scared of the alligators??” one person questioned, to which Charles responded, “Lol watch my other vids for the answer to that but they are actually Caiman here.”

Another said: “How incredible that you braved the murky waters to be up close & personal with pink dolphins. What an experience.”
