Influencer Julia Rose divides audiences with her opinion on who should pay for the first date
A dater sparked fierce debate online after voicing her beliefs that a man should pay for her Uber rides both to and from the dinner.
While who should pay for a date is a hot topic, dating TikToker Gabby Fe feels men should go that step further and pay for her ride to dinner and home.
To her, doing so proves he can finance a future with her, including a home and children. Fes video was featured on a recent Fox News segment in which they discussed a similar idea.
Gabby Fes TikTok video
After being shared on July 12, Fe has gained over two million views with her viral video sharing her thoughts on who should pay for a date.
I expect a man to pay for the date, said Fe. Yes, the whole entire date. That includes my Uber to the date and Uber back to my house.
I want to see that you can provide for me. I want to see that you can afford an Uber ride. I want to see that you can afford a nice dinner date like, can you afford basic things? Because if you cant afford dinner and an Uber, you certainly cant afford kids, you certainly cant afford a house, you certainly cant afford my bills and I got bills to pay, she continued.
Fes video was featured in a recent segment on Fox News, in which they discussed changes in dating culture in terms of who is expected to pay for the date.

Julia Rose weighed in with her response
Influencer and dating expert Julie Rose appeared during the discussion to add her views, agreeing that a man should pay for Uber rides on a date.
I sure hope not. Not the dates Ive been on, Julia Rose said when asked if women are now paying for dates. Rose added that girls will often offer to go Dutch because thats the polite thing to do but its about the man – is he going to let the girl pay?
I guess some guys are splitting the bill because a lot of women are offering but I guess. I dont know what kind of guy is going to let a woman pay.
Rose argued that dating a woman is priceless and worth more than a dinner or Uber ride. I guarantee you that woman before that date has exfoliated and shaved every inch of her body and what is that worth? Come on, more than a dinner, she added.
Were talking lobster, caviar, all of it, this is a woman youre taking on a date. These are first impressions. A date is like a job interview and the woman is interviewing you. What kind of impression do you want to leave?

Hypergamy content on TikTok
Reverting to more traditional concepts of dating, especially when it comes to finances, has been on the rise in the past year on TikTok. From those who simply believe men should pay for dinner to those on the more extreme side, like Fe, who share hypergamy content.
Shera Seven, for example, has become an internet sensation with her dating advice and guidelines on how women can level up through dating – and her infamous sprinkle, sprinkle slogan. Seven teaches women everything from how to ask a man to buy them things to where to find rich men.
An article for i-D Magazine on modern hypergamy theorizes that the gender pay gap mixed with the current financial crisis could be a key factor in so many seeking financial stability in their dating lives.
